Pride has announced thee major fights which have officially been added to their New Years Eve spectacular event
Pride Shockwave 2005
No surprise: The rematch from Pride: Final Conflict 2005
Wanderlei Silva Vs Ricardo Arona
Arona handed Wand his first loss while in his own weight category. Was Wandi holding back so he wouldn’t have to face his team mate in the finals, or did Ricardo Arona really get the better of the immortal Wanderlei Silva?
One thing is for sure; if Arona can bring it again Wanderlei would officially be dethroned.
Who saw this one coming?
Fedor Emelianenko Vs Zuluzinho Zuluzinho
Pride’s Heavyweight Champion against the son of one of Brazil’s legendary street fighter, Rei Zulu.
On paper this fight should be Fedor’s but you can’t count out a 6’ 7”, 406lb (184kg) BJJ Purple Belt.
Zuluzino has an unconfirmed Vale Tudo record of 35-0-0, with all 35 wins coming via Knock Out. The MMA world has only seen two of these fights. The First at Cage Warriors Fighting Championships Strike Force 2: UK Vs The World and the second at his Pride FC debut, Pride 30: Fully Loaded.
Fedor doesn’t need an introduction.
A big treat for ‘Stand-Up’ fans
Mirko Filipovic Vs Mark Hunt
Two former K-1 Champions who have made a successful transition to MMA face one another.
Cro-Cop, fresh from a loss to Fedor Emelianenko at Pride 30: Full loaded is the bookies favourite for this one. But don’t forget Mark Hunt has all the tools to seriously test Cro-Cop in stand up and was the person to stop Wanderlei Silva’s scorching twenty fight Pride FC winning streak at Pride: Shockwave 2004.
Cro-Cop is expected to win this one especially if it goes to the floor but Pride fan’s can expect an amazing spectacle.
