Shogun Injured After Running Himself Over

The night before his Pride: Final Conflict 2006 Openweight fight with Cyrille Diabate, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua told a member of the Brazilian press of how he was almost forced to drop out of the event because of an accident he had been involved in at home in Brazil.

The Chute Boxe fighter had parked his car but forgot to apply the hand break. When he got out, the car began rolling down the ramp of his garage towards him. Shogun was distracted by his dog at the time and didn’t see it coming. The impact sent him crashing in to a fence leaving him with injuries to his left arm and ribs.

"Shogun" told the Graciemag reporter, “I'm all right, the situation is just a bit embarrassing".
