New Years Eve War!

UFC to go head-to-head with Pride and K-1 in a New Years Eve rating war! The Nevada State Athletic Commission have released their events calendar for the latter end of this year. The Ultimate Fighter Season 4 Finale is scheduled for November 11th 2006. UFC 66 is set for November 18th. It has yet to be officially confirmed or denied that Chuck Liddell will face Wanderlei Silva at this event. But the big surprise is that the UFC have decided to join the annual ratings war that is "the big end of year show”. Pride and K-1 are traditional rivals at that time of year, but now the UFC has scheduled UFC 66 to coincide with the U.S. screenings of both Pride: Shockwave 2006 and K-1: Premium Dynamite 2006. UFC 66 is expected to be headlined by a welterweight title bout between the winner of Matt Hughes vs BJ Penn and Canadian Georges "Rush" St Pierre. |
