Heros Instate Third Official

As a result of the controversial Kazushi Sakuraba vs Kestutis Smirnovas fight, Heros have decided to add a sub-referee to work alongside a ringside official who will have the power to stop a bout. This move was made after the beating that Sakuraba took in order to gain the victory over his opponent in the opening rounds of the Heros Light-Heavyweight G.P. Many commentators of the sport and even the show’s medic said that the match should have been stopped, especially after it appeared that Sakuraba was KO’ed at one point. The assault happened early on in the bout and Sakuraba managed to turn the tables, but the fighter had to be taken to hospital after the bout to undergo thorough testing to ascertain whether he had cranial or even brain damage. Thankfully Sakuraba’s results came back clear. But the rules are supposed to be there to prevent a fighter getting seriously hurt. Heros agree that the fight could have been stopped earlier, so introduced the third official for an added safeguard. |
