Daiki "DJ Taiki" Hata held an open training session for the media in the Okuni Gym in Ikebukuro. At the outset of the session, Hata sent a message to Yoshiro Maeda. The message's medium was an emulation of a popular comic book character in Japan named 'Deathnote.' It is the protagonist's modus operandi to show his enemies how he will vanquish them in large letters in a large book. Hata's message, writte in black on a large sketchbook Hata reportedly found in a dumpster, to Maeda read: "Yoshiro Maeda will be knocked out on August 27, 2006. His opponent hit him very hard in the Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium." Hata and the media on hand all enjoyed a good laugh.

Concerning the actual sparring at hand, 'Taiki' chose to wear the scarlet tie and button-up white shirt combination he has so insisted is "everyday wear." Hata's sparring partner was Mitsuhisa Matsumoto of Gracie Barra VTT. The duration of the sparring lasted one five minute round. Hata impressed with an irregular choice of kicks and fluid hand combinations. Recalling his bout with Takemi Murata last July, Matsumoto frequently shot in for the takedown, putting Hata on his back. Hata, however, responded with a number of maneuvers which put him back on both feet. 'DJ Taiki' also revealed a number of submissions in his repetoire he called "DJ Locks." "DJ Lock 1" seemed to be a sort of spinning choke maneuver. A one-handed submission technique was "DJ Lock 2." The other two "DJ Locks" were not revealed.

'DJ Taiki' will rematch Yoshihiro Maeda on the 27th to decide the inaugural Featherweight King of Pancrase.
