Pezao’s Very Public Split From Wolfslair
Date submitted: 03 August 2006
Author: MMA Universe

A few days ago MMA Universe got an e-mail from a man claiming to be Antonio "Pezao" Silva's new manager. His message, the K-1 Heros fighter and Cage Warriors Super-Heavyweight Champion is now under new management and could we change his team listing in the MMA Universe database?

Sure, nothing unusual there, fighters change affiliation all the time.

Then yesterday on the UK’s busiest MMA message board, Cage Warriors Forums, this post was made:

(Please note that the grammar of following quote has been slightly corrected.)

The Brazilian fighter Antonio "Pezao" Silva now fights for the American Top Team. FightSurf can exclusively reveal why Pezao left the Wolfslair team:

“I am now representing the American Top Team. I have several reasons for leaving Wolfslair, the main being that payment of six thousand pounds was withheld from me by Anthony and Lee (the managers of Wolfslair) plus there were some irrevocable problems with Mario "Sukata" Neto.

There are usually two sides to every story, so it want long before Wolfslair Gym had their say:

“Just to set the record straight. Before we get into a slanging match of who's right or who's wrong. Let me say that Mario Sukata took Junior Silva under his wing at a very young age when the young lad had nothing, not even shoes on his feet or food on the table.
Now, Anthony & Lee the management team of the Wolfslair, brought Junior da Silva to England where he made a lot of money, was treated like a pop star, built his profile to such a global extent, and in fact his behaviour was nothing short of child-like and spoilt. Obviously forgetting where he came from and how much people had bent over backwards to support him and bring him up to his current standard in MMA.

The £6000 debate is ridiculous. Anthony and Lee are owed £20K + from Junior da Silva but rather than have the ungrateful headache, tantrums and disruption of the gym, they decided to part ways.

The world is a big place, and it does not revolve around this man. The continued success of the Wolfslair Team is more important than that of a selfish individual.

Hopefully this puts both hands on the table.

Why this guy had to post it to air his dirty laundry God knows.

Thanks.”

For now the war of words continues to rage. The whole of Wolfslair’s Pro Fight Team have united behind theirfriends and employers at the Gym. In the words of T.U.F. 3 Winner and Wolfslair representative Michael "The Count" Bisping:

“I can verify what Wolfslair said. The guy needs a reality check.”
