Official Fighter Payouts for Strikeforce: Carano vs Cyborg
Date submitted: 19 August 2009
Author: Jason Benfari / FiveKnuckles.com
FiveKnuckles.com has obtained a copy of the official fighter salaries for Strikeforce: Carano vs Cyborg via the good folks at the California State Athletic Commission. The event went down this past Saturday on Aug. 15 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
According to CSAC records, which do not include bonuses, percentages, taxes or sponsorship monies, Gina Carano took home the most cash. The premier name in woman's MMA racked in $125,000 for her role in woman's MMA history opposite Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos who defeated Carano, but pulled in exactly $100,000 less.
The big surprise was M-1 client Gegard Mousasi who only banked a reported $2,000 for his demolition of highly regarded vet Renato "Babalu" Sobral. Mousasi matched Isaiah Hill and Zack Bucia for the dubious honor of taking in the least amount of cash.
Sources close to the fighter informe FiveKnuckles.com that the fighter made substantially more than that in bonus money and other unreported income associated with the fight, however, and that he is very happy with his contract.
As stated, please bear in mind that the salaries reported do not include unreported payments in the form of sponsorships, percentages, bonuses and the like.
