A featherweight bout between L C Davis and Javier Vazquez has been added to the HDNet televised preliminary portion of the Affliction: Trilogy fight card.
Davis' four fight win streak was snapped in his last fight as he suffered a defeat against UFC veteran Michihiro Omigawa at World Victory Road: Sengoku 8 in March. He previously competed for Affliction at their second event in January, where defeated Pro Elite veteran Bao Quach. IFL veteran, Davis, sports an excellent MMA record of 13-2, with 11 of his wins being via stoppages. He holds other notable wins over Connor Heun and Rafael Dias.
Vazquez extended his win streak to four fights last weekend when he defeated last minute replacement Mark Kergosien at this past weekend's Fight Force International: Ultimate Chaos event. He was originally scheduled to fight UFC veteran Din Thomas at the event but Thomas was scratched after becoming ill from the tough weight cut.
Prior to last weekend's event, Vazquez retired briefly from the sport following his October 2007 win over J C Pennington. The KOTC, Shooto and EliteXC veteran also has an identical 13-2 MMA record, with 8 wins coming by submission. He holds wins over UFC veteran Rob Emerson and MMA pioneer Rumina Sato.
Affliction: Trilogy is scheduled for August 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event will be headlined by a WAMMA heavyweight championship bout between current heavyweight champ Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett.
Also featured on the card, former DREAM middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi will face Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Renato "Babalu" Sobral and middleweights Vitor Belfort and Jorge Santiago will also duke it out. Also, Paul Buentello will take on Gilbert Yvel in a heavyweight tilt scheduled for the main card.
