Akihiro Gono Set to Face Dan Hornbuckle at Sengoku

Akihiro Gono now has a opponent for World Victory Road: Sengoku 10 as the promotion today announced that he will take on Dan Hornbuckle at the August 2 event.
Gono is 2-2 in his last four fights, which includes two straight losses against Dan Hardy and Jon Fitch which led to his departure from the UFC. Gono has competed professionally for nearly 15 years since 1994 and he's a longtime veteran of the PRIDE, Shooto and Pancrese organizations. He holds notable wins over highly regarded fighters Hector Lombard and Gegard Mousasi.
Hornbuckle has won two straight, besting Nabil Khatib last June and Joe Alexander in February. Prior to those wins, Hornbuckle competed at last May's World Victory Road: Sengoku 2, where he was defeated by current UFC fighter Mike Pyle. He sports an overall MMA record of 17-2, with 14 of his wins being stoppages.
World Victory Road: Sengoku 10 takes place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, and airs on HDNet in North America. The event will also feature the semi-final and final rounds of the promotion's Featherweight Grand Prix tournament, as well as a Sengoku lightweight title fight between current champ Satoru Kitaoka and Mizuto Hirota.
Elsewhere on the card, Kazuo Misaki and Kazuhiro Nakamura will battle it out in a middleweigh title eliminator bout, and Fedor Emelianenko Sambo conqueror Blagoi Ivanov will take on Pride veteran Kazuyuki Fujita.
