Upstart promotion Bellator Fighting Championships' debut event Bellator Fighting Championships 1 featured six fighters moving to the second round of their respective eight-man tournaments, with each picking up $25,000 in the process.
While the card's biggest names, Eddie Alvarez and Jorge Masvidal, were among those six winners, losing contestants in tournament contests each picked up $10,000.
MMAjunkie.com recently requested and today received the list of paydays from the Florida Boxing Commission.
The total disclosed payroll for the April 3 event, which took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., was $237,000.
Competitors in the evening's non-tournament bouts earned purses ranging from $1,500 to $4,000.
Each of the non-tournament losers could have doubled their income with a win.
The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. They also do not include any other "locker room" or special bonuses that some organizations oftentime pays.
In other words, these are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.
