Shine Fights Feature UFC Vets in Ohio

The Shine Fights: Genesis, to be held on May 9th 2009 in Columbus, Ohio, boasts one of the best MMA cards ever assembled in the Mid West outside of the UFC. The card is loaded with UFC, Strike force, IFL, and KOTC vets, a number of highly regarded up and coming fighters as well as local MMA stars.

GENISIS will be headlined by an explosive co-main event, UFC vet and Hawaiian fighting legend Ronald "The Machine Gun" Jhun vs 5 time UFC vet and BJJ ace Roan "Jucao" Carneiro as well as UFC vet Antonio Mendes vs TUF 8 vet Antwain Britt. Ronald "The Machine Gun" Jhun is a vet of over 50 professional mixed martial arts and kick boxing matches. Jhun is known for his warrior spirit and his huge heart. He has held world titles in King of the cage, Gladiator Challenge, and Super brawl Hawaii. Jhun has been in the cage with the some of the best fighters in the world including Pride and UFC vet Frank "Twinkle Toes" Trigg, UFC #1 contender Thales Leites, 11 time UFC vet Chris "Lights Out" Lytle, TUF season 2 winner Joe "Daddy" Stevenson, and 6 time UFC vet Pete "The Secret Weapon" Spratt.

Roan "Jucao" Carneiro is a UFC vet and Black Belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu under the famed American Top Team. Jucao is an explosive grappler with dangerous striking. He has a outstand resume in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu earning his Black under the legendary Carlson Gracie. Although Jucao has a TKO victory over Tony DeSouza, his BJJ is where he is the most dangerous. An Abu Dhabi trial Champion (Brazil), Pan American Champion, Mecca Vale Tudo Champion, Shooto Champion (Japan), Rio De Janeiro State Champion and Abu Dhabi trials (6th place USA), Jucao has the ability to end the fight on the feet or ground.

TUF 8 vet Antwain Britt is looking to prove to the world that what happened in the UWC vs Renzo Gracie black belt Jamal Patterson was just a fluke and he is still a force to be reckoned with a the light heavy weight division. After breaking his hand on the last season of the Ultimate Fighter Antwain Britt went on a tear knocking out 4 strait opponents in the first round. Unfortunately that streak came to an end as the heavy handed fighter from VA beach was submitted in just under a minute by Patterson. Britt will be stepping up in class once again taking on dangerous muay thai striker from Brazil Antonio "Samuray" Mendes.

Two-time UFC vet Antonio "Samuray" Mendes trains out of MMA power-house, American Top Team in Coconut Creek FL. Working his striking with UFC super stars Thiago "Pitbull" Alves and Thiago Silva, Mendes has some of the best training partners in the world. Not only does The Samurai have some of the best striking partners, he also has world renowned 5 time BJJ world champion Marcelo Garcia to help polish up his ground game. This is a huge fight for both Britt and Mendes. Both of these fighters are trying to prove to the MMA world why they should be considered one of the top light heavy weights in the game today. This fight will be a war and should end with someone winning by knock out.
