Vitor Belfort Impresses at Affliction

Vitor Belfort pulled off a spectacular victory at Affliction: Day of Reckoning.
The “Phenom” continued his winning streak with a devastating first round KO of Matt "The Law" Lindland at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The fight was only 37 seconds old when the Brazilian knocked Lindland out cold. Lindland was unconscious for a considerable period of time, but recovered sufficiently to leave the ring under his own steam.
Equally impressive was Renato Sobral. “Babalu” submitted Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou with an anaconda choke after 2:36 of the second round.
Paul Buentello defeated Kiril Sidelikov of Russia by TKO at 4:18 in the third round. The “Headhunter” methodically tracked his opponent for three rounds, finding him with stinging jabs. The young Russian was visibly shaken an twice spat out his mouthpiece to avoid punishment. Referee Big John McCarthy and the ring side physician finally showed mercy, by ruling that the mouse that had developed under Kiril’s eye made it impossible for him to continue. |
