Three Belts On the Line at Cage Gladiators X
Date submitted: 25 November 2008
Author: Mick Bower

The UK promotion Cage Gladiators have put together an exciting card for their show at the Liverpool Olympia on Saturday 29th November.

Cage Gladiators 10: Clash of the Titans will feature three title fights, as well as a host of up and coming stars of UK MMA on the undercard.

In the main event Stefan "Skyscraper" Struve will take on Mario "Sucata" Netto for the Cage Gladiators World Heavyweight belt. Struve is one of the hottest prospects in the Heavyweight division. He is well known to the Liverpool fans after his impressive victories over Tom Blackledge and Colin Robinson on his previous visits to the Olympia. Since his first round demolition of Robinson, Struve has picked up wins in South Korea and his native Holland. Under the tutelage of “Dirty” Bob Schreiber, the Dutch youngster looks certain to be a massive star in the future. In his way on Saturday is Mario Netto. The Brazilian has a wealth of experience - both as a fighter and a trainer. His jiu jitsu expertise will make it tough for Struve to claim another submission victory.

Aidan Marron and Rob Sinclair will fight for the British Lightweight title. Marron is one of the toughest cookies in the game. His recent results have been disappointing - but he is never an easy fight. Rob Sinclair will be favourite to take the belt. Sinclair has a solitary loss on his pro record. That came at Cage Gladiators 8: Invasion, when another veteran Irishman, Greg Loughran came from behind to win with a Kimura in the third round. Rob rebounded from that setback with a decision win over Tim Radcliffe. That display of controlled aggression earned him his title shot.

The vacant British Vacant Middleweight Title will be contested by Chris Rice and John Maguire.

The rest of the card is packed with talent - including the outstanding match up between Paul Sass and Jason Ball. Sass has one of the most remarkable records in MMA. He has won his last eight fights by triangle. The Next Generation fighter has been in Alberquerque, New Mexico; training at Greg Jacksons gym - focussing particularly on his wrestling.

Jason Ball campaigned successfully at Welterweight; he held the Ultimate Force belt and clocked up wins over experienced names like Peter Angerer, Leslee Ojugbana and Paul Jenkins. He impressed in his debut at lightweight with a first round submission victory against Aidan Marron. Many observers have tipped Ball to be a major player at lightweight. His first big test will be trying to avoid the dreaded Sass triangle.
