Junior Dos Santos: I'll Never Fight Nogueira

Junior "Cigano" dos Santos exploded onto the Heavyweight scene with his performance at UFC 90: Silva vs Cote. His first round KO of Fabricio Werdum served notice that he can hang with the best.
The scarcity of Heavyweight talent means that some are already talking up Cigano’s title chances. At the moment - ownership of the belt is up for grabs as four leading heavies fight out a series to find an undisputed champ. Among those is Junior dos Santos mentor Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
Cigano told Tatame.com that he is confident that Nogueira will come out on top, but he would never fight the man they call “Minotauro”:
“It’s impossible, I’d never face him. He is my grand master. I think that he’ll win this GP, so I’d be his guardian. To fight against him, people would have to face me first”.
After his first taste of the UFC, dos Santos can’t wait to try it again. He told Tatame.com:
“I think that I’ll be back only next year, but after this victory I want to come back as soon as possible to fight in that octagon”. |
