Eddie Alvarez and Nick Diaz to Fight for EliteXC Belt

Nick Diaz and Eddie Alvarez will fight for the vacant EliteXC 160-pound title on November 8 in Reno, Nevada.
The 160-pound belt was previously held by Karl James Noons who was stripped last month of the title for refusing to fight Diaz. Former boxer Noons and Diaz have enjoyed a fierce rivalry. Last November, at Elite Xtreme Combat: Renegade, the two fought for the title. Noons was declared the winner due to a doctor’s stoppage.
Diaz has won three in a row since losing to Noons last November. Diaz fought on Elite Xtreme Combat: Unfinished Business, finishing Thomas "Wildman" Denny in the second round with strikes.
Seth Petruzelli sensationally knocked out “Kimbo Slice” Kevin Ferguson in the main event of Elite Xtreme Combat: CBS Saturday Night Fights 3 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. This leaves EliteXC in desperate need of a new star and Nick Diaz could be that man. Diaz is popular with fans who remember him from his time with the UFC and Pride. |
