Ricco Rodriguez vs Rob Broughton at Cage Gladiators 9: Beatdown

Cage Gladiators is proud to announce a late addition to its next card. Cage Gladiators 9: Beatdown is to take place on Saturday 4th October at the Liverpool Olympia. We are excited to present Ricco Rodriguez a former UFC heavyweight champion versus Rob Broughton. This titanic clash is one of the biggest fights yet for one of the UK’s top MMA organisations.

Ricco "Suave" Rodriguez is a former UFC heavyweight champion and ADCC gold medallist. Ricco is one of a select numbers of fighters to have beaten the legendary Randy Couture to capture the UFC belt. Ricco has fought some of the top fighter in the world narrowly losing a contentious decision to current UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira whilst competing in the now defunct Japanese Pride organisation. One of the world’s best known and popular fighters, he makes his UK debut for Cage Gladiators on Saturday 4th October.

Rob Broughton is a UK based MMA fighter who trains out of Golden Glory UK. He is one of the UK’s top heavyweights and accepted the fight with only one weeks’ notice. He is an exceptionally diverse fighter with great cardio and a crazy amount of fighting spirit. With wins over notable names such as James Thompson and Eric "Butterbean" Esch this will be Broughton's biggest battle to date.

This is the latest in superior matchmaking from the UK based Cage Gladiators organisation. This is event is part of a multi fight deal to be broadcast on ITV 4. Cage Gladiators are seen as pioneers in the UK MMA scene for securing a TV commitment for MMA to be aired on terrestrial television.

The Co-Main event is for the Vacant Light Heavyweight title between Marc Goddard and Kevin Thompson. This is a fight UK MMA fans have been clamouring to witness for the past year. Both these fighters are in the top ten light heavyweight Cage Gladiators rankings. This guarantees to be a battle of immense proportion.
