Gina Carano to Face Kelly Kobald

Gina Carano will face Kelly Kobald in the next instalment of CBS Saturday Night Fights.

NBC Sports reports that the fight has not yet been officially signed but is expected to be announced soon.

Kobald is a credible opponent - but most fans will expect Carano to prevail. Kelly Kobald has not fought in over a year. Her last contest was a decision loss against Julie Kedzie at Bodog Fight: Season 5 Day 1 in August 2007.

One of the stars of the recent Elite Xtreme Combat: Unfinished Business was tipped as a future opponent for Carano. Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos slugged her way to victory on July 26th.

Cynics may feel that “Cyborg” is simply too dangerous an opponent for Gina Carano at the moment. Along with “Kimbo Slice” Kevin Ferguson, Carano is one of Elite XC’s most marketable assets. The troubled promotion will not want to risk the box office value of their star by putting her in with “Cyborg”.
