Cris Cyborg Blitzes Shayna Baszler

Cristiane Santos “Cyborg” defeated her opponent at Elite Xtreme Combat: Unfinished Business at Stockton Arena on Saturday night, but celebrated a little too early.

Cyborg’s heavy punching combinations were too much for Shayna Baszler and the American went down. Cyborg leapt with joy and celebrated on the top of the cage. Referee Steve Mazzagatti had not waved the fight off and shouted at Cyborg to come down.

The Brazilian was surprised, but this didn’t put her off the job in hand. She continued where she left off and dropped Baszler for a second time. This time - there was no chance of Shayna getting up.

After the fight, Cyborg was calm about the whole incident. Through an interpreter, she said:

“After I saw her on the mat, I thought I won and then the referee told me to come back. So I went back and did it again."

The impressive performance means that fans are demanding a fight between Cyborg and EliteXC poster girl Gina Carano.
