The UK is going to get a home grown MMA reality TV show.
Last week there were strong rumours that The Ultimate Fighter may relocate to Britain. Now, the UK promotion Cage Rage have announced that they will be producing their own show: Fighting Hurts.
The series will be screened on Nuts TV. They have put out the following call for contestants:
“If you think you've got what it takes to be a Cage Rage Contender then get your application in for Fighting Hurts. We're looking for the country's toughest men with the brawn, athleticism and fighting potential to succeed in the world of Cage Fighting. Many will try but only one man will be crowned Fighting Hurts Champion 2008!
Successful applicants will go through to the audition stages in London and 16 lucky (brave) finalists will be chosen for the final stages where they'll go through a punishing training regime.
The finalists are whittled down from 16 to 8 as they are paired up to fight and obsereved by our panel of judges. The remaining finalists are subjected to further fights - eight will then become four. With just four guys remaining, fights are organised to establish the final two contenders.
The final two will have two more rigorous weeks of training before the biggest fight of their lives in front of a sell out capacity crowd at the Troxy, London in November.
We’re scouring the nation to find the ultimate amateur contender with the potential to succeed in the world of Cage Fighting. Entrants need to supply details of their fighting abilities and experience along with a photo and why they think they should be chosen.
Successful applicants will go through to the audition stages in London and 16 lucky (brave) finalists will be chosen for the final stages where they'll go through a punishing training regime learning the necessary fighting techniques from masters of Karate, Boxing, Ju Jitsu and Muay Thai”.
