It has been announced today that Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto has been forced to pull out of his fight with Joseph Benavidez due to a cruciate ligament injury picked up during training.

In a press conference held today by FEG, Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto was present and on crutches and very reflective: "In one word - regrettable. My conditioning was very good, but during sparring yesterday I heard a loud pop as my knee went".

It is thought that the cruciate ligament is damaged, and there may also be an additional fracture. The doctors report was presented at the press conference as evidence of the severity of the injury.

It is believed that the injury will take around six moths to heal, meaning that Kid will miss Dream 6 in September for certain and may not even fight again during 2008.

This news comes on top of the recent announcement that Hideo Tokoro is also out due to an injury sustained when a motorist drove into the back of his car whilst he was on the way to his Medical examination.

However, western fans will be delighted by the breaking news that Alistair Overeem has been flown in to fight Mark Hunt in a potentially epic battle!
