Urijah Faber to Meet Mike Brown at WEC 36

After a dominating 5 round victory over Jens Pulver at World Extreme Cagefighting 34: Faber vs Pulver in June, "The California Kid", Urijah Faber, returns to the cage on September 10th to defend his belt against American Top Team’s Mike Brown.

According to MMAJunkie, bout agreements have already been finalized and the fight is set for World Extreme Cagefighting 36 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.

Faber has been on a tear since entering the WEC, leaving a trail of victims that includes the likes of Dominic Cruz, Chance Farrar, Jeff Curran and of course "Lil Evil" Jens Pulver. At 21-1 the California Kid seems unstoppable.

In his last bout he took all five rounds from Pulver who had never lost a fight in the 145lb division.

Faber will take on Mike Brown who has something in common with the California Kid. They both have victories over veteran, Jeff Curran, who has an impressive resume to say the least with over 30 victories and a total of 45 fights.

Brown, who fights out of Portland, OR, is 19-4 and has an extremely strong submission game. He has wins over some tops dogs in the featherweight division including Mark Hominick, Yves Edwards and of course Jeff Curran. Although he has four losses on his record, they came at the hands of top level fighters like the UFC’s Hermes Franca and Joe Lauzon.

Brown has won seven straight and could dramatically change his career with a win over Faber. On September 10th he will get his chance to dethrone the top pound for pound featherweight fighter in the world. With only 3 (T)KO’s to his name, he will have to do it on the ground where he is most comfortable. But getting Faber to the mat is no easy task. Brown will definitely have his work cut out for him in this battle of 145lbers.

Another title fight is also slated for the September 10th card that will feature the long awaited rematch between WEC middleweight champ Paulo Filho and Team Quest standout, Chael Sonnen.
