Brandon Vera vs Reese Andy at Fight Night 14

Brandon Vera will collide with International Fight League veteran Reese Andy at UFC: Ultimate Fight Night 14 on July 19 in Las Vegas. The match will mark Vera's debut at 205 pounds.

Vera fought at UFC 85: Bedlam on June 7, as he was finished for the first time in his career in a technical knockout loss to Pride Fighting Championships veteran Fabricio Werdum. The charismatic Vera raised a stink about the stoppage afterwards, questioning referee Dan Miragliotta's decision to intervene in the closing seconds of round one. He will enter his bout with Andy on a two-fight losing streak.

Andy holds victories against reigning Icon Sport middleweight champion Ross "Kala Kolohe" Hose and UFC veteran Justin Levens. He has rattled off four straight wins since he suffered the only blemish on his resume, a TKO loss to Aaron Stark in September 2006. He has not competed since he earned a split decision against Team Quest's Krzysztof Soszynski more than a year ago.

In other action, lightweight championship contender Hermes Franca will meet Frank Edgar in a bout between two of the promotion's top 155-pound fighters.

Franca last appeared in July when he lost a unanimous decision to then lightweight titleholder Sean Sherk at UFC 73: Stacked. He tested positive for suspected steroid use in wake of the bout and received a one-year suspension from the California State Athletic Commission. That suspension will end next month.

The former World Extreme Cagefighting lightweight champion, Franca has delivered 17 of his 18 career wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission. His loss to Sherk snapped an eight-fight winning streak. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, he holds key victories against International Fight League lightweight titleholder Ryan Schultz, WEC lightweight kingpin Jamie Varner, Nate Diaz and Spencer Fisher.

Edgar, meanwhile, tasted defeat for the first time in April, as he dropped a unanimous decision to Xtreme Couture's Gray Maynard at UFC: Ultimate Fight Night 13. He holds a victory against Ring of Combat lightweight champion Jim Miller and remains the only man to defeat rising lightweight contender Tyson Griffin.
