Fickett Replaces Riggs at StrikeForce: Melendez vs Thomson

Joe Riggs has been removed from tonight’s StrikeForce: Melendez vs Thomson card after he failed to be cleared for the bout by the California State Athletic Commission.
UFC veteran Drew Fickett has agreed on very-short notice to fight in place of Riggs against middleweight prospect Luke Stewart.
MMARated.com is reporting that Riggs was not cleared for the bout because he had taken Percocet three days ago and informed the CSAC of his use of the prescribed drug during pre-fight medicals.
Fickett has won five-straight bouts including a victory in his Strikeforce debut over Jae Suk Lim in March. He last fought on June 7th, defeating Jeff Horlacher via first-round submission at Rage in the Cage 111.
Stewart will be looking to rebound from a March unanimous decision loss to Tiki Ghosn, the first loss of his professional career. He had previously won five straight bouts including wins over Jeremiah Metcalf and Jason von Flue.
