Angrrr Management Presents: Southern Agrrression 3
The Winter Gardens
Weston-Super-Mare
05-March-2006
You may be thinking… “5th of March? Why wasn’t Pete at home watching UFC 58: USA vs Canada on Bravo?” Well, he had to make a judgement call and decide which of the two events he wanted to see more. In hindsight, the decision to watch Southern Aggrrression III was the right one- besides; there were only three UFC fights worth watching.
Angrrr Management returned to familiar surroundings in the almost bespoke-looking Winter Gardens of Weston-Super-Mare to put on what became another solid, well put together night of fighting. Never has there been a negative word printed about Angrrr Management on MMAU and this article is not about to break the mould. In an evening that spanned nine fights, there are several that deserve particular attention.
The opening fight of the night is deserving of note for one reason only… Adam Stanton. His latest appearance in the cage demonstrated why he is speculated as being one individual to look out for in the future. Within two minutes of the first round Stanton grounded and schooled his opponent Simon Boulter in what looked like a grappling master-class. Boulter found himself tapping to the tune of an arm-bar at 1:49.
Kevin Maddox and Chris Harbuckle left it all in the cage in a two-round war. The bout had elements of both ground and standup but it was Harbuckle that left the best impression on the judges- well, two of them at least. The judge who scored Maddox as winning must have been watching the UFC on a pocket T.V when this bout was on.
Jake Blyth scored another win for Mark Weir’s ‘Range Fighting’ squad by defeating Mark Cox in just over a minute via standing guillotine choke. However, the fastest victory of the night was scored by Tim Newman, who was also awarded the accolade of ‘fighter of the night’ by referee Grant Waterman. Newman finished off his opponent Robert Zeilinski via arm-bar on the twenty second mark of round 1.
Other fighters on the night who were particularly impressive were Adan Cole and Ben White, both of whom left the cage victorious.
Angrrr Management have announced future dates for events to be held in Kidderminster, Cardiff and Weston; all of which can be found in the MMAU events calendar.
