Carina Damm Fails Steroid Test!

Bill Douglas of the California State Athletic Commission confirmed Carina Damm has tested positive for Nandrolone following her recent fight in Fatal Femmes Fighting in April.
Damm has been fined $2500 and suspended for one year from the date of the fight which means April 2nd 2009 is the next time Damm will be able to compete in a sanctioned state.
Promoted as “MMA Barbie” Damm came to attention through her fights in BodogFIGHT which took place in locations not overseen by state commissions.
After losing to Rosi Sexton by armbar in Russia on BodogFIGHT Season 2 Rosi defeated Molly Helsel on Season 3 and Jessica Aguilar in August of last year, both by decision. With her win in FFF and her follow-up win in FCC she signed a contract with EliteXC who were planning on using her for their June 27th show.
Although Damm was mainly known for fighting at 125 pounds and hadn’t faced competition known outside hardcore circles she was touted as the next thing in the women’s divisions. Carina and brother Rodrigo run a jiu-jitsu school in Vila Vella, Brazil but she fought more like the Chute Boxe style.
Damm is the first woman to be accused of steroid use by a commission.
