Ultimate Fighter season one participant, Josh Koscheck has signed a new deal with the UFC, and faces Chris "Lights Out" Lytle at UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin in Las Vegas, Nevada this coming July.
The AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) welterweight made the decision after his last fight at UFC 82: Pride of a Champion.
“Basically my decision to stay with the UFC is because I’ve been with them for the past three years. They’ve invested time and money in me, and for me it’s the best organization right now. It’s pretty much always been the best organization in the U.S. Now they’re the best in the world."
With fellow TUF veteran Mike "Quick" Swick and current top contender Jon Fitch also fighting out of the AKA camp, you would think there would be the risk of bad blood or competition between these teammates.
“That’s a good problem to have for the guys out of AKA,” he said. “That means we’ve booted everybody out and hopefully that’s the case. Hopefully, I’ll keep winning, one fight at a time, put on good performances for the fans, put on good performances for the UFC, and put on good performance for our gym, AKA.”
Many have commented of Koscheck's MMA ability when looking back at his previous fights, in which he utilised his wrestling ability to control his opponents on the ground. However after defeating Dustin Hazelett in devestating fashion with a volley of punches that set up a kick to the head, we should see a much improved and well rounded Koscheck.
