Welterweight fighter Fabricio Nascimento has been around the mixed martial arts world for a long time. Notorious for his furious submission style and wild athleticism, he's beaten some of the best names in mixed martial arts to become the current ICON Welterweight champion.
On the 10th of May he'll have to defend his KL champion belt when he faces Slovenian superstar Bojan Kosednar at K-1 Europe MAX in Modena – Italy. K-1 max, is a 8man tournament with a MMA superfight featuring Nascimento vs Kosednar for the world title, 3 x 5 min DREAM rules.
Kosednar talks about his upcoming fight against Nascimento :
"It’s kind of funny, the reason I’m fighting today is because of Nascimento, and now here I am, it’s me who’s got to fight him. But, I’ve always wanted to fight Nascimento, ever since then. I'm physically and mentally prepared like never before and i don't have nothing to loose because Fabricio is more famous name in the World then me. So this time I’m going in just to play.”
Nevertheless, Kosednar expects Nascimento to be aggressive with his submission techniques, which he hopes to take advantage of by dropping a few hard punches into his head.
"I know Nascimento will come out bullrushing me, so I’ll keep my hands on his face and punch the crap out of him,” Kosednar says. “I’ve seen a few of his tapes, he’s a tough guy. Always goes forward, and never stops. It’ll be an interesting fight."
The Slovenian superstar also intends to put on a full display of his arsenal, which includes a strong ground game.
But worth it if he can get his first World title win against Nascimento, whom he says is a resilient and hungry foe, but hardly a judo wunderkind.
“I mean, if you look at his fights, he barely takes anybody down. He gets taken down a lot. I’ve seen three or four of his fights and most of them he barely does any takedowns, but Marco Santi took him down, Dragan Bakula took him down. But he’s really good at getting up, too. He’ll take the fall but he gets back on his feet very quickly.”
I’ve always went in loose, like going to the playground instead of going to fight, and right now I just go there and play and it’s just a fight, and I’ll go home with a win. No pressure, no nothing. Play time.”
