Per Eklund Ready to Stand Up

When Swedish fighter Per Eklund returns to the Octagon - he intends to come back with a bang.

The highly rated Eklund lost his UFC debut against Sam Stout at UFC 80: Rapid Fire in January by way of unaninmous points decision. The Swede also received some barracking from the crowd at the Metro Radio Arena for what they saw as negative tactics. Eklund spent a lot of time laying on his back, inviting Stout to join him in a ground fight.

Judging by a recent interview - Eklund will be more than ready for a stand up battle when he returns to the UFC stage as he has just returned from training in Thailand. He told asgardmma.com:

"I am training only Thai boxing for the moment. I am going to fight in Swedish Championship in Muay Thai in Malmö on 19 and 20 April. It is my first time in a Thai boxing tournament."

When asked about his tactics in his next UFC fight, Eklund joked:

“He! He! I will go for a KO. No takedown-attempts this time!”
