Frank Shamrock and Cung Le Split $500,000

Frank Shamrock and Cung Le both received bumper pay days for their fight at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs Lee. Shamrock was paid $300,000 for fighting. The winner, Cung Le was paid $200,000.

The payroll was disclosed by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). The figures represent base salary and do no take into account extra income, such as sponsorship.

The showdown between the San Jose rivals drew a huge crowd to the HP Pavilion. 15,192 people attended the event, generating a total live gate of $1,117,855. These numbers are highly impressive.

Shamrock’s clash with Cung Le was by far the biggest reason for most of the fans attending and this is reflected in the pay for the other fighters on the card. Gilbert Melendez and Joey Villasenor received $50,000 and $36,000 respectively. No-one else on the card was paid more than $10,000. The total disclosed payroll for the show was $667,850.
