Female Fight on EliteXC's Debut CBS Card

EliteXC’s network live TV debut will feature a female MMA bout.

Kaitlin Young will take on Gina Carano on the main card of the Elite Xtreme Combat (31 May 2008) show.

Kaitlin Young told MMAWeekly:

“I was ridiculously excited. They asked if I wanted it and I accepted. It really is a huge opportunity. I’m really, really excited about it. People will actually be able to see this one, I fought in Bodog and Hook ‘N’ Shoot but it wasn’t televised, it will be my first time fighting live on television.”

As both fighters come from a Muay Thai background - it is likely to be a stand up battle.

Gina Carano is one of the best known fighters in America. This is mainly due to her role as Crush in the revival of the television show American Gladiators. She divides opinion among MMA fans. Some claim she is promoted on the basis of her looks and given preferential treatment.
