Kazushi Sakuraba Opens Tokyo Dojo

Kazushi Sakuraba has set up his own dojo.

The Tokyo facility, to be called "Laughter 7", will open to the public on April 1st. As well as “The Gracie Hunter”, the coaching staff will include Cage Force veteran Wataru Takahashi and former national wrestling champion Kazuhiro Hamanaka.

An official opening ceremony was held ay the dojo on March 24th. Boutreview.com report that Sakuraba explained the name of the dojo to the audience:

"For anyone, laughing would make everything more happy. Even during gruesome training, laughter can push it through. That is the meaning. (Of the dojo name) And 7 is, you know, lucky seven."

Kazushi Sakuraba also expressed his desire to produce a new generation of Japanese MMA stars:

"Instead of fighting with just physical strength, I want to raise a fighter who is clever by sly. That type of a fighter, with a well-balanced sense, could double or triple his ability. I want to raise fighters like that."
