Obama Campaign Woos MMA Fans

Barack Obama is fighting to become the Democrat’s candidate in the presidential election - and his backers are hoping to win support from MMA fans.
The website, my.barackobama.com has put up the following message:
“Wednesday, March 26 there will be a WEC also known as World Extreme Cage Fighting live on the Verses channel. This would be a great opportunity to meet with friends, watch the fights, and try to get more Barack Obama supporters. This is word-of-mouth campaign that can be done by anyone, anywhere.” The candidate even has one group of backers who call themselves “Martial Artists for Obama.”
If Obama secures the Democratic nomination - he may well hope that MMA fans have long memories. His opponent would be Republican John McCain. McCain was one of the most prominent voices in the campaign to ban the UFC in the early days of the promotion. The senator is widely believed to have coined the term “human cockfighting” to describe MMA. |
