With the media buzz saw surrounding the UFC in early 2006, Pride’s inaugural event of the year, less than five days away, approaches with the stealth of Japan’s ninja warriors.

The fight card is an interesting one, with two very intriguing bouts and several “open weight” bouts seemingly mismatching Pride middleweights with bigger, stronger heavies. Yet, the domestic media attention is somewhat minimal.
