Big Pay Day for Tank and Kimbo

How would you fancy a job that paid $2930 a second? Maybe the salry wouldn’t sound as attractive if you knew it involved taking a beating at the hands of Kevin Ferguson.
According to the Florida State Boxing Commission’s figures, David "Tank" Abbott was paid $126,000 for fighting in the main event at Elite Xtreme Combat: Kimbo vs Tank. His opponent received $175,000 ($125,000 to show, $50,000 to win). Judging by the crowd reaction, there will be more big pay days in the future for Kimbo. He was cheered to the cage and his victory sent the crowd beserk.
Under the wing of Bas Rutten the Internet streetfighter has successfully made the transition to MMA fighter. It will be interesting to see how long it will take a cunning old Boxing promoter like Gary Shaw to put his new golden boy in with a more dangerous opponent.
For Tank Abbott - the pay days may be drying up soon. He can still sell tickets based on his reputation and personality - but for how much longer? His best results were over a decade ago. |
