Dana White has stated his intentions for securing the European market with taking the franchise to Croatia, Germany & Scotland sometime in 2008, but headhunting that is what Dana White of the UFC is doing as he has publicly guaranteed fans in Massachusetts & New York, a UFC PPV will be arriving in 2008, White stated his actions in The Patriot ledger.
“I’m going to be as bold as to say I guarantee you either we’ll be in the Boston Garden or Madison Square Garden (by the end of the year),” White told the newspaper.
A legendary veneue in itself is MSG (Madison Squared Garden) which holds a 20,000 capacity which shot to stardom by holding unforgettable boxing classics. The other main stage UFC are targetting, The Boston Garden is also in the region of the 20,000 mark at around 19,600 capacity that was opened for events 13 years ago back in 1995.
New York seems to be the harder of the two to get sanctioning rights as it is not regulated & for Massachusetts it does hold few MMA events with promotions having to gain special licenses for the events. For example UFC President will be in Massachusetts this evening for MMA action which involves the Dan Lauzon (Brother of Joe Lauzon). Lauzon has had a stint in the UFC where he was stopped at UFC 64: Unstoppable against Spencer "The King" Fisher. Lauzon will be in the main event against Frank Latina who has filled in at late notice. Not only will the president be in attendane but other stars such as Kenny Florian, Marcus Davis & Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will be at the event for an autograph session for the fans.
The craze is getting bigger with the count now up to 32 states that sanction MMA and a few in the final stages approval.
This seems like it will be UFC on tour with the MMA promotion likely to hit new locations on the map as they have touched down in Neveda, California & Florida with UFN (Ultimate Fight Nights) shows.
UFC will be making a return to Colorado on April 2nd after twelve years of being absent when UFN 13 will take place.
Two fighters who will be happy about the news if MMA is to be sanctioned in Massachusetts will be the headliners in Colorado being Joe Lauzon & Kenny Florian who are both from the state and a possible opportunity to fight in their home state is a dream for the majority of the fighters in the industry.
