King of the Comeback

Man of the comeback that is Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, in both fights of his UFC fights thus far, he has been destined to catching a loss, but even being in troubled waters at some stage of the bouts, first with Herring and a near KO and Saturday for the Interim Tile when he was clearly losing on the judges scorecards before sinking in a tight guillotine choke and gain his first UFC belt.
Sylvia made full advantage of his reach against the Brazillian and made great use of his stand up which has always been effective and questioned for some bizarre reason but never the less Noguiera got his opportunity for his submission and delivered with success with the maine fighter tapping. For much of the fight Noguiera looked to be shying away from the big stature of Sylvia as he was connecting in the stand up and came close to stopping the fight in the first round when he was sent packing to the floor, but survived. The third round soon came along and Noguiera was able to transition from an armbar attempt he was working for and switch to the guilltotine for the win. Noguiera commented on the former champs stand up by saying "His stand up was amazing" Noguiera will now goin onto face Fabricio Werdum sometime this year in his first defense as announced at the post press conference at the UFC 80: Rapid Fire when Werdum defeated Gonzaga in the second round via TKO. |
