With an undefeated record of 4-0 in mixed martial arts, many people are calling Kaitlin Young the future of women's MMA, including Bodog Fight women's champion Tara La Rosa.
"I don't know about that," Young says. "But my MMA career has moved along since November for sure. That's very flattering coming from the current champ."
Young won the Hook N Shoot women's title in November by knocking out 3 women in less than 2-minutes total. Her performance caught the attention of MMA fans around the world. Since then, the super-striker from Minnesota has spent time working on her grappling skills to round out her game.
"I've been working a lot at it," Young says. "I just did a grappling tournament and entered every division I could. Hopefully it develops like the stand-up."
Facing Sarah Schneider on Friday night at Bodog Fight in Las Vegas, Young admits that she doesn't know a lot about her opponent, but expects a good fight anyway.
"My original opponent pulled out about two weeks in advance," Young explains, "so I don't know a lot about [Schneider]. I know she's very aggressive. I believe she's undefeated in MMA at this point, so it should be a slugger."
So is Schneider overdue for one of Young's trademark kicks in the head?
"That's my plan," Young says. "That's what I always try to do."
