Alan Belcher Out of UFC 81

Alan Belcher has been forced to withdraw from his bout at UFC 81: Breaking Point. Belcher was due to take on Ricardo Almeida in an eagerly anticipated contest, but he has been forced to pull out after coming down with bronchitis.

Belcher earned plenty of fans in his last Octagon appearance against Kalib Starnes at UFC 77: Hostile Territory. He showcased his Muay Thai skills before cutting Starnes in the second round to force a doctors stoppage.

Ricardo Almeida’s new opponent will be Rob Yundt. Yundt will be making his UFC debut. The short notice replacement has made his name fighting on the tough Alaskan MMA circuit.

This will be Ricardo Almeida's first fight since 2004. The fact that he is now taking on a UFC rookie makes the contest intriguing, but if the Renzo Gracie student Almeida returns to fighting in the form that saw him clock up victories over Nate Marquardt and Ryo Chonan – he must be an ovewhelming favourite.
