The Pitbull Gets the Green Light

Arlovski finally after almost a year out of the octagon gets the nod for UFC 82 and his opponent is Jake O'Brien - reported.
Top heavyweight Andrei Arlovski has been stalling over contract negotiations after has been subquently was punished for his apparent performance way back at UFC 70: Nations Collide in June of last year against Fabricio Werdum, the new no.1 contender as official announced by Dana White after his victory over Gabriel Gonzaga on Saturday at UFC 80: Rapid Fire. The news of Werdum's title shot is sure to irritate the Pitbull as he was promised a title shot if he should defeat Werdum and eventhough he was successful in doing so, White was unimpressed by the Belerussian and went back on his promise causing some what of a rift behind the scenes and subsequently punished the MMA fans of Arlovski's skills in the octagon. A lot of people are already questioning the choice of opponent for Arlovski as they see other opponents as better suited and more attractable to the fans in business sense with Crocop, Vera, Kongo, Gonzaga or even Brock Lesnar all hanging about with issues effecting them as Arlvoski's debocle. O'Brien is a top wrestler and has a crisp 10-0 record in his MMA career and his last being over Heath Herring who is also on the card for the UFC 82 PPV when he takens on the powerful frenchman Cheick Kongo. Reports of Arlovski's opponent O'Brien are suggesting this might be the last we see of Arlovski in the UFC in regards to the rift and treatment of the heavyweight in which regardless of the situation is a hot commodiaty in MMA and will have offers coming left, right and centre for the man they call The Pitbull. |
