Villasenor, Riggs and Puder on Elite XC Card

With Cung Le set for the Main event for Frank Shamrock at Strikeforce on 29th March, another bout set for the same card is Joe Riggs taking on Joey Villasenor.
The Villasenor camp have indicated that the bout is to be finalized in the next couple of days. Riggs is known through his activity in the UFC where he had an up and down record getting together a 4-4 record with victories over Ivan Salaverry, Nick Diaz and Joe Doerksen. Riggs was shuffled along to WEC, but signed for Strikeforce instead where his last outing ended with him KO'ing Eugene Jackson at the Playboy Mansion in September 2007. Villasenor, a King of the Cage middleweight champion looks to continue where he left off with his split decision over Riki Fukuda at the Elite XC Uprising PPV.
Villasenor fought for the Elite XC's title against Murilo Rua after defeating David Loiseau, but suffered a second round TKO.
Also returning on the Strikeforce is Daniel Puder with his spotless record of 6-0 agaijnst a unnamed opponent, a member of the American Kickboxing Academy has burst onto the scenes after his particpation as the Tough Enough winner of the World Wrestling Entertainment competition, although there is a band wagon of people being over critacal of the caliber of opponents that Puder has been disposing of. Strikeforce: Melendez vs Thomson takes place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California on the 29th March. |
