WEC Announce Card for Albuquerque Show

The WEC have put together a mouthwatering card for their opening event of 2008.

World Extreme Cagefighting have announced the full line-up of fights for World Extreme Cagefighting 32, including three intense championship bouts. World Extreme Cagefighting 32 features the “Natural Born Killer”, WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit, in his homecoming bout vs Carlo Prater, WEC Lightweight Champion “Razor” Rob McCullough putting his belt on the line vs Jamie "The Worm" Varner, and WEC Bantamweight Champion Chase Beebe defending his title against jiu-jitsu ace Miguel Torres. All the action takes place LIVE from the Santa Ana Star Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Wednesday, February 13, 2008.

World Extreme Cagefighting 32 will be televised live in the USA on VERSUS beginning at 9:00 pm Eastern Time and 6:00 pm Pacific Time.

World Extreme Cagefighting 32 features a solid undercard, with fights that could be headliners anywhere else in the mixed martial arts world, including Manny Tapia vs Antonio Banuelos, Josh Grispi vs Mark Hominick, Hiroyuki Takaya vs Leonard Garcia, Scott Jorgensen vs Jesse Moreng, Charlie Valencia vs Yoshiro Maeda, Micah Miller vs Chance Farrar and Del Hawkins vs Ox Wheeler.

Mexico’s unbeaten Manny Tapia plans on continuing his climb up the bantamweight ranks on February 13th as he does battle with The Pit’s Antonio Banuelos. Tapia was impressive in his last outing against Brandon Foxworth, defeating him by TKO at 3:17 of the second round. But the veteran Banuelos is also coming off a big victory, out pointing Justin Robbins unanimously over three rounds in August.

Boston native Josh Grispi will be making his WEC debut when he steps into the cage with stand up sensation Mark Hominick. At nineteen years of age, Grispi is one of the top prospects in the featherweight division, and is always looking to impress the crowd with a KO victory. But standing in his way is Hominick, a hard-hitting UFC veteran who has won two in a row since a WEC loss to Rani Yahira last June.

Another UFC vet looking to strike championship gold is Leonard "Bad Boy" Garcia. Now able to fight at his natural weight of 145 pounds thanks to the WEC, this scrappy fighter will not get an easy return to the featherweight division when he steps in to face fellow WEC debutant Hiroyuki Takaya. An exciting battler who has starred in Japan’s K-1 and Shooto organizations, the “Streetfight Bancho” is never in a boring fight, making him the perfect fit for the sport’s most exciting organization.

But that’s not all, as the rest of the February 13th undercard is packed with thrilling matchups.

Albuquerque bantamweight Ox Wheeler will be battling in front of his hometown crowd when he returns to action in search of his first WEC win against Phoenix’ Del Hawkins Former world featherweight title challenger Chance Farrar is back in a crossroads clash against rising star Micah Miller.

In bantamweight action, Japanese standout Yoshiro Maeda makes his WEC debut against hard-nosed Charlie Valencia, and Idaho’s Scott Jorgensen takes on Arizona’s Jesse Moreng.
