James Irvin vs Houston Alexander for UFC 83?
Date submitted: 16 January 2008
Author: GJ Poole

The Sandman with his ever famous flying knee KO of Terry Martin at UFC 54: Boiling Point takes on a guy that has shook things up in the division before being derailed by Thiago Silva, Houston Alexander.

Both James Irvin & Houston Alexander haven't been able to conquer the Brazilian Silva as he continues with his sportless record.

Irvin won his last bout via DQ at UFC 79: Nemesis and looks to cement a siege towards the title picture and giving Alexander another loss could accelerate Irvin into the frame if he can pick off the Assassin from Nebraska.

Alexander will look to keep the same game plan as he stated after losing to Thiago Silva at UFC 78: Validation post press conference and will be returning to the UK for the 3rd time as the venue is set for another PPV in London, England for March, UFC 83.

UFC 83 has yet to be confirmed, Michael Bisping is set to be debuting against Charles McCarthy in his middleweight debut and that Andrei Arlovski will settle his situation about his contract to extend his stay in the UFC to face fellow European competitor Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic in a mouth watering main event which will pit a European head to head with Croatia vs Belerus which will excite the european MMA world as these two have come to a stand still in their careers with Arlovski being inactive because of his previous performance where he won a boring decsion victory over Fabricio Werdum and Crocop losing out to Cheick Kongo by decision also at UFC 75: Champion Vs Champion.

Another plus for European MMA is ever increasing talent that is being signed by the UFC indicates that a lot more PPV will be entering European soil.

With the UFC's recent signings of Croatian Goran Reljic & Frenchman Samy Schiavo, plus the likes of Paul Taylor, Paul Kelly, Per Eklund, Dennis Siver and Tomasz Drwal it shows the UFC look set to rule Europe throughout 2008.

These European fighters will look to set their MMA careers a light when they enter the octagon for the first time or returning after impressive performances.
