Undefeated mixed martial arts fighter Kaitlin Young is ready to continue her winning streak when she fights Xtreme Couture fighter Karina Taylor on Feb. 1 for Bodog Fight in Las Vegas.
After training at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Young knocked out three opponents on Nov. 24 to win the women's Hook N Shoot tournament belt in Evansville, Indiana. For her next match, Young is hoping for another stellar performance.
"I can't wait to get out of this crappy Minnesota winter to enjoy Las Vegas," she tells adcombat.com. "I know that Karina has had a few Muay Thai fights and one MMA fight. She seems to take her training very seriously, so I am betting that this will be a great fight."
Looking back on the tournament, Young says even she was shocked by her back-to-back dominating wins.
"Honestly, I was surprised," she explains. "The majority of the women in the tournament had several MMA fights already, some pro and some amateur. I had fought in a cage once before and had amateur Muay Thai fights, but I knew I was relatively lacking in MMA experience. I was hopeful that I would win, but I didn't think that it would be like that."
So will Las Vegas fight fans see another one of her trademark crushing knockouts?
"I can't say for sure," Young says, adding "I will say that if I am given the opportunity, it will happen again."
