Choi Hong Man to Face Fedor

Fedor Emelianenko will make his eagerly awaited return to MMA at a New Year's Eve event in Japan. It was announced by M-1 Global last week that their main event at the 22,000 - seat Saitama Super Arena will feature M-1 Global superstar. Now, it looks likely that his opponent will be the gargantuan South Korean Choi Hong Man.
Loretta Hunt at The Fight Network reports that negotiations are taking place and that Choi’s representatives have requested special rules be implemented to favour their 7-foot-2, 370-pound fighter’s striking - heavy style.
Korean Choi Hong Man, a former ssirium wrestling Grand Champion. He fought last weekend at the K-1: World Grand Prix 2007 Final at the Yokohama Arena, losing the first tournament quarter final against veteran kickboxer Jerome Le Banner. In his sole MMA fight to date - Choi took just 16 seconds to defeat Bobby Ologun at K-1: Premium Dynamite 2006.
Fedor Emelianenko has not fought since he submitted Matt "The Law" Lindland at Bodog Fight: Clash of the Nations in April. |
