Tim Sylvia the Biggest Earner at UFC 77

According to figures released by the Ohio Athletic Commission it was the big men who earned the big money at UFC 77: Hostile Territory.

Tim Sylvia was paid $200,000 for his win over Brandon Vera by unanimous decision. A sold-out crowd of 16-thousand MMA fans showed up at Cincinnati's U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, Oct. 20 for the event, which produced a live gate of $2,519,850, setting an arena record.

Former Heavywieght champ Sylvia was awarded the highest reported salary of the night, while headliner Anderson Silva was reportedly paid $120,000 for defeating Rich Franklin for a second time, plus an additional $40,000 for scoring the "Knockout of the Night". Franklin earned $45,000.

Tim Sylvia looks set to earn an even bigger pay day in the future. With the resignation of Randy Couture from the UFC, Sylvia is now a leading contender to regain the Heavyweight crown.
