Further Changes to Cage Rage 23 Card
Date submitted: 05 September 2007
Author: Mick Bower

Chris Brennan and Ross "The Boss" Mason have been added to the Cage Rage 23: Unbelievable at Wembley Arena, London on September 22nd.

Imanari Masakazu has pulled out of his World title match with Jean Silva due to personal reasons which is very unfortunate, as this fight would have been a possible Jujitsu master class. In place of Imanari, Cage Rage have been able to secure Chris "The Westside Strangler" Brennan.

Chris Brennan is a well rounded American fighter who will be out to secure a very quick win on making his Cage Rage debut. Chris and Jean have much in common as they have fought many of the same World class opposition, but have never met. Jean has stated that he wants to put a Cage Rage belt back on his waist and that Chris Brennan is a mere obstacle between him and his belt.

Chris Brennan has a long history in top level Mixed Martial Arts. A decade ago, he fought at UFC 16: Battle in the Bayou. He has tangled with names such as Takanori Gomi, Vitor Ribeiro and has fought Pat Miletich three times.

In a further change to the card, Ross "The Boss" Mason replaces Wolfslair fighter Paul Kelly. Mason will fight Che Mills. Che Mills is a very direct technical fighter, who has proven himself against some of the toughest welterweight fighters out there including a big KO win over welterweight title contender Marius Zaromskis at Cage Rage Contenders 2. This will be the first time Mills has fought on the main Cage Rage bill after building up his reputation with impressive performances on the promotion’s Contender shows.

Ross "The Boss" Mason is a well rounded fighter with excellent striking skills and you know when Ross enters the cage that we will be witness to a war. Mason was KO’d by Marius Zaromskis at Cage Rage 22: Hard as Hell. Ross Mason rarely has an easy night at Cage Rage. Previous to the Marius Zaromskis contest, he had been defeated by UFC veteran Chris "Lights Out" Lytle, UFC veteran to be Jess Liaudin and the rising star of UK Mixed Martial Arts Paul Daley.  Having said that, Mason’s Wembley losing streak may be misleading. His losses are against high class opposition and he has a number of notable scalps on his record.

Cage Rage 23: Unbelievable is to be headlined by the clash between Julius Francis  and Gary Turner. In another battle of the big men, Mustapha al Turk and Tengiz Tedoradze will finally meet. The London crowd will also be able to see if Tengiz’s stablemate, Neil Wain can continue his quest to flatten everything before him against Domagoj Ostojic .

Despite strong rumours to the contrary, Mark Weir is still fighting Paul Daley. Following his loss to Nick Thompson at Bodog Fight: Season 5 Day 1, it was reported that Weir was injured. Some respected MMA sources even went as far as naming his replacement. Last week, Cage Rage took the unusual step of issuing a statement to confirm the fight will be going ahead.
