Date submitted: 22 August 2007
Author: Mick Bower
The action and excitement of Mixed Martial Arts will meet Hollywood on September 1st when Imperia Entertainment begin filming their MMA film “Never Submit” at Art of War 3: USA vs Brazil in Dallas, Texas. Celebrities, and the "Never Submit" Ring Girls, will be on hand, giving out free "Never Submit" fight wear, and several patrons admitted to the VIP box during the fights will have a chance to bein the movie.
Kenneth G. Eade, Chairman of Imperia Entertainment, Inc. stated. "This is an incredible fight card and one that MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fans from around the world are going to want to watch or purchase on Pay-Per-View. We are looking forward to getting some great footage for our upcoming film and looking for more strategic sponsorship and branding opportunities with the members of Team SUN.(SUN Sports and Entertainment's - the promoter of Art of War 3: USA vs Brazil)" Eade added, "There are many people that want to claim a role in this sport and very few as pro as SUN and their brand, 'Art of War' and 'UNDERGROUND Cage Fighting'."
Art of War 3: USA vs Brazil will feature a World Championship fight; and for first time ever, the U.S. National Team vs. the Brazilian National Team. Headlining the ten-bout card will be the Heavyweight Championship Fight for the IFA Belt between Jeff Monson who will face defending and current IFA Champion Pedro Rizzo.
"Never Submit", directed by Don Dunn and starring Corey Sevier (North Shore), Ernie Hudson (Desperate Housewives), and star fighters Josh Koscheck, Michael McDonald, Mauricio Rua, Mike Swick, Ken Shamrock and Nate Quarry, is a movie set in the world of Mixed Martial Arts, the fastest growing sport in the world. "Never Submit" is an inspirational tale similar to "Rocky," but the lead character is an intelligent young man (as are most fighters competing in this sport) rather than a beaten-down punch-drunk fighter.
“Never Submit” is not the only MMA movie in production. Earlier this year, Vertigo Films (the UK production & distribution company, whose films include "The Football Factory," "Dirty Sanchez", "The Business" and "Outlaw", headed by Producer/Director/Writer, Nick Love), teamed with Belgravia Entertainment International, the ultimate owners of the Cage Rage Championships, to co-produce a UK set movie based on the sport of MMA with all the action centred around the Cage Rage Championships. Norman Brock is writing the script for Vertigo Films. The story line is an intriguing mixture of fact and fiction, chronicling the trials and tribulations of several troubled men who fight their way through real hard times, some become Cage Rage stars, others fail.
Many Cage Rage stars also feature in the independent British feature film “Sucker Punch”. “Sucker Punch” was the directorial debut of Malcolm Martin, who also wrote the script with Gordon Alexander. The film stars Danny John Jules as Ray ‘Harley’ Davidson, an illegal fight manager. “Sucker Punch” premiered at the Mermaid Theatre in London, in front of an invited audience which featured many of the leading lights of UK Mixed Martial Arts. A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
