Sam Stout Loses to Spencer Fisher in UFC Rematch

Spencer "The King" Fisher took his revenge on Sam "Hands of Stone" Stout on Tuesday, winning a unanimous decision over the Canadian lightweight in UFC mixed martial arts action.

The 23-year-old from London, Ont., won a majority decision over Fisher at UFC 58: USA vs Canada in Las Vegas in March 2006, with Fisher having to drop 20 pounds in two days as a late injury replacement for Kenny Florian. This time, the 31-year-old American had ample time to prepare for Stout and it showed.

Their first fight was a war and the second didn't disappoint. This time Fisher looked much fresher and crisper, however. He also seemed to have more weapons, although Stout was able to resist the few takedown attempts Fisher made.

Both fighters came out swinging with Fisher the more accurate in the early going. But Stout survived the early barrage, steadied himself and cut Fisher later in the action-packed first round.

Fisher was sharp again in the second round and seemed in control, even if his battered face told a different story. The American showed his accurate strikes in the third round, dropping Stout with a right to the chin and marking up his face.

"I think it should have been a draw. I'm happy with the win," Fisher said after the fight.

"He hit me just as hard as I hit him and just as much. It was a great fight and I'm sure there'll be a part three, Sam."

Fisher improved to 21-3 while Stout fell to 12-3-1.

The 155-pound fight was the main event of the UFC: Ultimate Fight Night 10 card at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Stout also lost his last UFC outing, via submission to Florian in June 2006. Since then, Stout won twice on the TKO circuit in Montreal including a TKO over jiu-jitsu ace Fabio Holanda and a submission victory over Jay Estrada, who choked Stout out in the Canadian's first MMA fight in June 2003.
