Jan "Cuddles" Finney Fights Tama Chan

Jan Finney is tougher than her nickname indicates.

For mixed martial arts fighters, a good nickname goes a long way.

Just take a look at the Bodog Fight roster and you’ll see intimidating handles like "Red Nosed Pitt Bull", "Buffalohead", "The Butcher" and "One Punch".

Then there’s Ohio’s Jan Finney (3-2-0). It’s not exactly a name that will send opponents running for cover. Still, despite her cute moniker, Finney insists she’s no teddy bear.

"My trainer Mike Patt gave me the nickname "Cuddles" after I accidentally kneed one of my training partners in practice," explains Finney. "It’s meant to be ironic, like when they call a big guy ‘Tiny’, because afterwards the poor guy needed stitches under his eye!

Really, I’m far from cuddly. I’m more like a bull in a china shop."

Finney looks to put the squeeze on Japan’s Tama Chan (12-6-0) on an all new episode of Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat, Tuesday, May 22nd at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION Television.

The 24-year-old Chan has a pro record of 12-6, while Finney has just three wins in five pro bouts. Both losses, though, were to the indomitable Julie Kedzie (7-6-0) and Finney is desperate to get back into the win column.

"This is a pivotal fight for me," admits the 26-year-old. "Tama has a lot of experience, and in many ways this is the biggest fight of my career."

Also featured on this episode, Utah’s Alex Steibling (21-9-1) faces Moise Rimbon (9-6-2) of France in light heavyweight action.
