Kampmann was scheduled to take on Rich Franklin in the main event on June 16 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but he hurt his knee during training in Las Vegas and will be sidelined indefinitely.

UFC president Dana White is expected to announce a new opponent for Franklin in the next couple of days.

Known as The Hitman, Kampmann has a record of 12-1 and recently defeated Drew McFedries at UFC 68: The Uprising.

Withdrawals can happen in this sport and has as recently as April 21, when light heavyweight fighter Forrest Griffin was forced to pull out of UFC 70 in Manchester, England because of a severe staph infection. Instead, Griffin was moved onto the UFC 72 card and is scheduled to fight Hector Ramirez.

Other fights on the card include Edmonton's Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald taking on Rory Singer, Tom Murphy versus Jake O'Brien, Eddie Sanchez machting up with Colin Robinson and Scott Smith fighting Ed Herman.
